Deployments across Europe and North America demonstrate the growing adoption of nanobubble technology to support fish welfare and oxygen stability during high-density crowding events. 

June 15, 2026 –  GroAqua and Moleaer are continuing to expand deployment of advanced nanobubble oxygenation solutions as salmon producers increasingly seek new ways to support fish welfare and maintain stable dissolved oxygen levels during crowding operations. 

The companies will showcase their latest oxygenation solutions at Aquaculture UK, highlighting how nanobubble technology is being used across Europe and North America to help farmers manage some of the most oxygen-demanding periods of production.

Crowding is a critical part of modern salmon farming, supporting a range of essential activities including health management, fish transfers, grading, harvesting, and other routine husbandry procedures. During these events, elevated biomass densities can rapidly increase oxygen demand and place additional pressure on oxygen delivery systems, creating challenges for both fish welfare and operational performance.

To address this challenge, GroAqua engineered and deployed a dedicated oxygenation solution centered on Moleaer's Freya nanobubble generator. Drawing on extensive experience in aquaculture oxygen generation and distribution systems, GroAqua integrated the technology into a practical, field-ready package designed specifically for high-density crowding applications, enabling producers to maintain oxygen stability under demanding operating conditions.

Moleaer's Freya nanobubble generator achieves industry-leading oxygen transfer efficiencies in a compact, submersible form suited to a wide range of aquaculture environments. Producers using the technology during crowding operations have reported oxygen savings of up to 41% compared with conventional systems while maintaining stable dissolved oxygen conditions. Nanobubbles remain suspended in the water column significantly longer than conventional bubbles, maximizing oxygen transfer efficiency and helping operators support fish welfare while minimizing oxygen consumption.

The application represents one of several areas where aquaculture producers are increasingly adopting Moleaer's technology as a tool to support water quality, fish welfare, reduced mortality, and operational performance across a range of production environments.
